I suspect the opportunity to join the guard would not have arisen for a guy working in an orchard, so that's probably something he wouldn't have been able to do if Imriel hadn't given him Lombelon.Alliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03683230093775720398noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074055834975214817.post-6130933763414588192016-05-09T13:02:49.376-04:002016-05-09T13:02:49.376-04:00I like your observations in Q1. He was there to mete out justice and not to feed his rage or fulfill vengeance. Definitely a lot to think about in those scenes.

Maslin mentions that at one point he realized that he might not ever find his goal so he was along for the adventure. I think that is what kept him going. And yes! I too hope they continue their friendship.

I think Berlik's skull in a sack is quite the symbol of all that Imriel has been through, all that he lost and gained. So I can see why Phedre burst into tears over that one.

That's a great quote at the end. And perfect for Mother's Day. nrlymrtlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00572346310916207565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6074055834975214817.post-72525990374879664652016-05-09T01:49:59.446-04:002016-05-09T01:49:59.446-04:00Yes to everything in number 1. I feel like I could not phrase an answer to that question, but you said everything I was thinking.

As for Maslin, do you think he would have continued on his quest out of a sense of duty? He complained that Imriel made Lombelon small, but I think he also must know but hate to admit it that everything he has become is because of Imriel (and Imriel would be the only one to understand how much is sucks to have a traitor for a father). Even his place in the guard, I don't know how guards are hired, but would he have been able to get a place as just the poor grandson of a gardener? Maybe. I don't know. I don't know how the guard works.emilyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12945793193044137020noreply@blogger.com
